PROMOTIONAL EVENT DESIGN
————————
For the 2019 season, the Nashville Sounds joined the Copa de la Diversion initiative, which is a MILB wide program that helps teams embrace the culture and values of their local Hispanic/Latino communities. The program has teams create unique branding specific to their community, local outreach, and fun in game promotions that help promote these communities that have been such an important part of baseballs growth.
The Sounds brand uses a lot of guitar motifs, so they picked the name Vihuelas for their Copa brand. A Vihuela is a classic Spanish/Mexican guitar that is typically of a higher pitch and is used a lot in Spanish folk and mariachi music. For this project I was tasked with designing the branding and uniforms and working with MILB to make sure that we represented the local Nashville Latino community the best way we could.

The design brief made sure that the focus of the design was around the instrument of the vihuela. Through our
research, we found that the vihuela was an important
instrument in Spanish folk and mariachi music. The musicians that play vihuelas also tend to decorate them with either paint, wood fusing, or woodcarving. These elements were important to the development of the Vihuela branding.
